This is the Crest on two airport signs for Montgomeryshire Airport situated near Welshpool. The two signs were produced in aluminium and stainless steel, with oil paint and gold leaf work on the coat of arms.
It's rare to find hand painted work on a road sign. Montgomeryshire Council originally bought 3d aluminium coats of arms which were fixed onto the signs but, it seems, they were so desirable that people kept stealing them, so we painted them on instead and so far nobody has had the cheek to steal an entire sign.
